About 2012 Chevrolet Volt
The Chevrolet Volt is not a hybrid. It is a one-of-a-kind, all-electrically driven vehicle designed and engineered to operate in all climates. Powered by GM's revolutionary Voltec propulsion system, it consists of a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and electric drive unit that provide pure electric range between 25 and 50 miles, depending on terrain, driving techniques and temperature.
A 1.4L gasoline-powered engine extends the range up to an additional 344 miles on a full tank of fuel by operating the vehicle's electric drive system until the car can be plugged in and recharged or refueled. Chevrolet offers an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty on the Volt's lithium-ion battery.
For 2012, consumers will be able to choose from a total of seven option packages compared with only three for the 2011 model. A loaded Volt comes with leather appointments, backup camera, navigation system, plus premium paint and wheels.
New features for 2012 include:
-- Standard keyless access with passive locking; the car automatically locks and unlocks with the key fob in close proximity of vehicle
-- OnStar Turn by Turn navigation standard for three years, and available in-dash navigation system
-- Chevrolet MyLink including Bluetooth streaming audio for music and select phones
